This week’s sermon focuses upon actor, musician, and all-around English gentleman Idris Elba.
Idrissa Akuna “Idris” Elba, born 6 September 1972, is an English actor, musician, and DJ. He is known for playing drug lord Russell “Stringer” Bell on the HBO series The Wire, Detective John Luther on the BBC One series Luther, and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013). He has been nominated four times for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film, winning one, and was nominated five times for a Primetime Emmy Award.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing “The Wire,” I highly recommend it. It is arguably one of the most realistic police dramas ever made. (Just stop at Season 3, because Seasons 4 and 5 kind of go off the rails).
There are more photos below the fold…
Elba is one of my favorite actors; a guy who shines in every role he accepts.
Elba is reportedly on a short list to eventually play James Bond. I think he would be a fantastic choice.
I’m guessing physicality and stunts will not be a problem.
The services have ended. You may now go in peace.
