Sessions To Obama Attorneys: GTFO

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has asked the last U.S. Attorney holdovers from the Barack Obama’s administration to resign immediately, effectively draining a small part of the swamp.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has asked the remaining 46 U.S. attorneys to resign, the Justice Department announced Friday, describing the move as part of an effort to ensure a “uniform transition.”

The department said some U.S. attorneys, as in prior transitions, already had left the department. Now, “the Attorney General has now asked the remaining 46 presidentially appointed U.S. Attorneys to tender their resignations.”

This is a normal practice for incoming Attorneys General, but you can be sure the media will claim this is an unprecedented, racist move.

  1. It’s standard to replace all of them. They are political appointments.

Before the grandstanding, I would have said Preet Bharara would have been an excellent candidate for reappointment. He has gone after corruption pretty evenhandedly and with bulldog-like tenacity. But once you draw a line in the sand and dare your boss to fire you, he really doesn’t have any choice but to kick you to the curb.

  2. Loki – Agreed. If he didn’t have premature butthurt, he’d still be employed.

Mike47 – Yep, and now he’s playing the victim because he has no self-control.
