GOP Congressman Shot By Gunman

Five people, including Congressman Steve Scalise, were shot by a gunman during a GOP baseball practice this morning in Alexandria, Virginia. The politicians were practicing for an upcoming charity game.

Scalise is currently listed in stable condition, and expected to recover.

Five people including the House Majority Whip Steve Scalise were shot at a GOP baseball practice on Wednesday morning. Scalise was shot in the hip by the gunman who fired between 50 and 100 rounds from his rifle before being brought down by Capitol Police.

Florida Rep. Ron DeSantis said the shooter asked the group of they were Republicans or Democrats before opening fire. Two members of Scalise’s security detail were also shot and an unnamed congressional staffer was shot in the leg.

For the record, I have no idea if DeSantis’ report of the shooter’s motive is true. I just want to put that out there because I’m tired. I’m tired of politics, tired of all the hatred, and tired of getting angry at the way this country is collapsing around itself. /sermon

Scalise was the only one in the group who had been accompanied by a Capitol Police security detail. Senator Rand Paul, who was also there but was not hurt, said that had they not been there to stop the shooter, all of those targeted would have died.

While morons on Twitter are calling for gun control, the key point to this story is another bad guy with a gun was stopped by a good guy with a gun.

  1. I agree with you 100%, Wyatt. The first thing one of our professors said this morning was “Good, now maybe we can get rid of assault rifles once and for all since it was the GOP who was harmed.” I just looked at her, kept walking and thought “dumb a$$”.

  2. Hey Wyatt. It goes further than that kind of PC BS. Another comment put out by the left wing lapdog media was that all this “heated political rhetoric” needs to be toned down. I would remind those pathetic clowns that is was not conservatives that trashed Portland and Oakland the day after the election, or parts of DC on Inauguration Day. I would remind them that it is not conservatives that are assualting peaceful people who disagree with them. I would remind them that it is not conservatives that are trying what is essentially a coup attempt because they don’t like the results of the last election! And I would remind them that it is not conservatives who are the real fascists!

  3. New law. No democrat can possess a gun. Period. All republicans can possess as many guns as they want. Makes sense to me.

  4. William – Funny how they call for bilateral tone downs after a Democrat or an Islamist starts shooting up locations, but – as you said – they are the first ones to claim “TEA PARTY!” or “RIGHT WINGERS!” when it’s a conservative. Ironically, it’s rarely ever conservatives.

Cathy – Ban all guns. VA Governor Terry McAuliffe stated today “93 million people a day” to guns.

  5. Lets start with the celebrity body guards not being allowed guns.

It’s also pretty damn funny how the news always blames the right when the reports first start coming out, then bury the story when the truth happens.

I hope this senator sues the newzcasters that are pushing for more & more violence with their hate filled rhetoric.

  6. MelP – Once they found out the shooter was a raging leftist, the media started calling for people on both sides to tone down the rhetoric. If the shooter was a conservative, the MSM would have a field day blaming Trump, take radio, and conservatives in general.

Meanwhile, Representative Scalise’s condition has been changed to critical.
