Sunday Services

Today’s services are a bit of a throwback, and one of my favorite actors of all time: Mel Gibson.

Mel Colmcille Gerard Gibson AO (born January 3, 1956) is an American actor and filmmaker. He was born in Peekskill, New York, and moved with his parents to Sydney, Australia, when he was 12 years old. Gibson is best known as an action hero, for roles such as Martin Riggs in the Lethal Weapon film series, and Max Rockatansky in the first three films in the Mad Max action series.

Director Peter Weir cast him as one of the leads in the critically acclaimed World War I drama Gallipoli (1981), which earned Gibson a Best Actor Award from the Australian Film Institute.

Gibson produced, directed, and starred in the epic historical film Braveheart, for which he won the Golden Globe Award and Academy Award for Best Director.

Shameful confession: I own the movie Braveheart, but I have yet to watch it. If you feel the need to stop reading this blog because of that fact, I will not hold it against you.

There are more photos below the fold…

Gibson was voted Sexiest Man Alive in 1985, but I assume many other women voted for him through the year 2000.

Mel grew up in Australia, which is apparently where he lost his hangups about his body.

This guy is thirteen years older than me and looks twenty years younger. *runs to bedroom and weeps like a child*

The services have ended. You may now go in peace.

  1. Love Mel Gibson, the man doesn’t take himself seriously. Have you seen the trailers from the latest Daddy’s Home movie? He plays MW’s dad.

I really think it’s crappy of hypocrite-wood to punish him for drunkenly making an anti-Semite comment when they’ve said a LOT worse.

  2. Cathy – He’ll keep you warm, that’s for sure.

MelP – Agreed. Mel gets drunk, just like everyone else, but it doesn’t seem like he’s a perv, like far too many in Hollywood.

    1. Honestly, I believe that the main reason he was treated so badly was because he decided to do “that movie” after the idjits in charge told him not to (The Passion of the Christ), and then made a lot of $$$ from it.

  3. Braveheart is good entertainment. You should watch it. One of my favorite Gibson roles besides Lethal Weapon is The Patriot. Like him or not, he makes good movies.
