Nearly 24,000 cheerleaders may have been exposed to mumps during a Dallas tournament last month.
State health officials are warning athletes from 39 states and nine countries that they may have been exposed to mumps at a cheerleading competition last month in Dallas.
A person from another state who had mumps traveled to Dallas for the National Cheerleaders Association All-Star National Championship, Texas Department of State Health Services spokesman Chris Van Deusen said.
The department sent a letter to those who participated in the competition, which was Feb. 23-25 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, to let them know that they or their children may have been exposed to the virus.
Ironically enough, I would have gladly given Kay Bailey Hutchinson a disease or two in her day. Wait a minute, did I type that out loud?
