Facebook Initiates Their Stamp Act

The nanny-state leftist sucklings who inhabit Facebook determined this week the Declaration of Independence violated their rules on hate speech.

The Liberty County Vindicator, a newspaper between Houston and Beaumont, had been posting the whole declaration in small daily chunks for nine days on its Facebook page in the run-up to July 4. But the 10th excerpt was not posted Monday as scheduled, and the paper said it received an automated notice saying the post “goes against our standards on hate speech.”

Part of the standard notice, Vindicator managing editor Casey Stinnett wrote, included a warning that the newspaper could lose its Facebook account, on which it depends for much of its reach, if there were more violations. The offending passage?

It was part of the “Bill of Particulars” against Britain’s King George III: “He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.”

Mr. Stinnett noted that the newspaper wanted “a means of contacting Facebook for an explanation or a opportunity to appeal the post’s removal, but it does not appear the folks at Facebook want anyone contacting them. Or, at least, they do not make it easy.”

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that Facebook is run by merciless leftist jackasses.

  1. All you have to do is take one look at Zuckerberg . He hasn’t moved much beyond his college days and that liberal mentality and brainwashing. Wish these guys would grow up.

  2. Today an old friend shared a post about his company being voted one of the best places to work in South Carolina and Facebook took it down because it was “political speech” that violated their rules. They have gone off the deep end over there.

  3. FB keeps putting up posts about how they’re “protecting” us & making sure we see more of our friends postings & not offensive items/ads. Two posts below: an ad. Diamond & Silk’s postings sometimes pop up every day or three, but someone I know posts all sorts of offensive (as in “I hate Trump”) crap non-stop & that goes through with no problem.

  4. Ronni – They believe history starts at their birth, and cannot fathom why political correctness was not an issue in the 18th century.

TXNick – Well, they’re making a go at it with their lax immigration policies.

Ingineer – Funny how leftist speech is never a violation, though. I despise Facebook, and while I haven’t deleted it yet, I rarely log on.

MelP – Exactly. Facebook is here to protect our fragile feelings, dontchaknow?

    1. Wyatt, I do have a FB account, but it’s mostly to keep in contact with retired friends & family that lives out of state. And the recipes & jokes that pop up. I’m also old enough & mature enough to either scroll past the crap, or click on the little arrow & tell FB to quit showing me certain postings (then when they ask me why I don’t want to see it, I click on the button besides “It’s Offensive”).

      1. Oh, don’t misunderstand; I don’t begrudge anyone using FB. Mrs. Earp is on it all the time. I’ve just soured on social media, and the few friends I do have stay away from it.
