In Soviet Russia, Statue Erects You!

After decades of Soviet oppression, rampant poverty, and living in a diesel-choked sh*thole, you’d think Bulgarians wouldn’t have a sense of humor. You would be wrong.

Pranksters in Bulgaria are repainting Soviet-era monuments so that Soviet military heroes look like American Superheroes. Needless to say, the Russians are not too happy about it:

Russia is demanding that Bulgaria try harder to prevent vandalism of Soviet monuments, after yet another monument to Soviet troops in Sofia was spray-painted, ITAR-Tass reported.

The Russian Embassy in Bulgaria has issued a note demanding that its former Soviet-era ally clean up the monument in Sofia’s Lozenets district, identify and punish those responsible, and take “exhaustive measures” to prevent similar attacks in the future, the news agency reported Monday.

We need a Bulgarian airlift. We can drop leaflets, brushes, and high-quality, Soviet-proof paint.

  1. We should also drop a bunch of our graffiti “artists” to also. Thier “artwork” would be an improvement on what is shown here.

And as an added benefit, they would get a first hand look at the end result of communism/socialism. A real eye opener for them.

  2. Cathy – I think it’s supposed to be Robin? I mean, it’s Bulgaria, so…

TXNick – I had a world affairs professor in college who, once a week, would rant about the Soviets in mid-class. “Grown men standing in line for god-damned soap. Christ!”
