Mortal Artwork

Last week Redneck Geezer asked about Kevin and Julia’s art. It’s been a while since I’ve posted some drawings, but the timing off the request was perfect.

You see, when we were at the shore – I’ll post about that when I’m not totally exhausted – Julia spent her mornings making something for Kyle, who goes away to college in less than two weeks. Kyle is a big fan of the Mortal Kombat video game, and decided to draw one of his favorite characters: Liu Kang.

It encapsulates her favorite things: karate and drawing. I think it came out really well.

For a comparison, here is a picture of Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat similar to what she was recreating.

Julia will likely be the hardest hit when Kyle heads to Texas, so I think she wanted to give him a going away present. She will certainly miss her “Ginger Buddy,” and wanted to give him something special before he heads to college.

  1. Awesome artwork there.

Please relay the message to Miss Julia that my wife is still in Plano, and anytime Julia and you wish to visit, we have a guest room and a couch that converts to a double bed. Y’all are welcome to visit, just give my Lady a heads-up to freshen the linens.

I’ll be back next year… got to a) make money and b) start up a power plant.

  2. Each time you post this stuff, I am blown away. I can’t even draw stick figures that are intelligible to others. Your kids are all very talented.

As for going away to school… my grandkids start today. The oldest goes to middle school and the youngest to kindergarten.

  3. TXNick – Well, I’m going to start up… um, a PowerBar!

RG – Kyle leaves for UD on the 22nd. I think he’s both excited and terrified.

Tam – Thanks. All freehand, no tracing. I was really good at it as a kid, and I stopped in high school. The talent left me.

Ronni – Surprisingly, he really liked it. Not bad for a moody teenager.
