Counting Down…

I just wanted to let everyone know the rest of the week will be a juggernaut of stress and excitement.

Mrs. Earp will be taking Kyle to Dallas for orientation Thursday, and I will be Mr. Mom from Thursday through Sunday. (I had to take off three days from work, but it was unavoidable.) I’ll be driving them to the airport – jealously – then back to the Earp Ranch to run things and make sure the kids aren’t eating sugar and flour for dinner.

Not that my meals would be any better… or worse.

For his part, Kyle is handling this pretty well. I think he’s both scared and excited, as most of us were, but I’m sure he’ll do fine. His one roommate is from Texas and is majoring in Physics. The other is from Massachusetts, and he, like Kyle, is a Boston Bruins. I guess Kyle will have a Philly/Boston/Texas accent in four years.

I’ll be posting all week, but my commenting and responses may be spotty at best. I’m writing this Monday night and there are still a ton of things to do, and I just emailed all the medical paperwork for lacrosse.

Oh, and regular readers know Kyle isn’t going to the University of North Texas, but this girl was really stunning, so there ya go.

  1. I’m sure he will end up graduating with some kind of honor and distinction. All your kids seem headed that direction. I have a cousin who’s son is going to the University of Denver to play Lacrosse. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll get to go to a game and see both of them at the same time.

  2. The first one leaving the nest…..Just wait until it is Princess P. It was hard for me when my first one left for college. Wishing Kyle nothing but the best. I’m sure he will do great!

If he hangs around me and my Lady, he’ll wind up with a Philly/Bahston/Texas/Thai accent.

Looking forward to finishing this project and heading back to civilization, and to watching Kyle play lacrosse (and “bird watch” the crowds).

Oh, and try not to feed the kids all junk food. Mrs. Earp would have your…. err, well, she wouldn’t be pleased at all. 🙂

  4. RG – Denver is Division I. Dallas is Division III. Kyle’s a fan of Denver’s team, but he doesn’t want to play them. 🙂 Oh, and coach sent out an email chiding the team for not having medical paperwork completed. The first sentence literally said no one has the forms completed… “except Kyle.”

Kyle now thinks everyone will call his a brown-noser.

Ronni – My sister came over with a case of Cheerwine soda she found in Jersey. My mother-in-law also came by to see him off. We head to the airport at 9am, then it’s Mr. Mom for me. He seems much more relaxed today, so that’s a good sign.

TXNick – Kevin and Julia are already demanding Wendy’s spicy chicken nuggets. We had pizza tonight for Kyle’s last dinner, so I’m putting nuggets off for a while.
