Fifteen Years

Fifteen years ago, I put fingers to keyboard and started my career as a very mediocre blogger. In the years that followed, I made – and lost – a lot of friends, enemies, and readers. While the experience wasn’t always enjoyable, I have tried to stick with it through thick and thin.

I’m not entirely sure how long I’ll keep doing this – when I retire, I may retire from blogging as well – but I want to thank all of you for continuing to stop by and read my rantings. This couldn’t happen without you, and I truly appreciate your support lo these many years.

Thank you.

  1. This blog is one of the highlights of my day. I don’t comment on every post, but I do read them.

Thank you for the diversions from the lunacy going on these days. Keep up the good work, and roll safe.

  2. Happy Anniversary. I always look forward to reading your adventures. Most of the blogs I used to follow have stopped for one reason or another. Hope you keep with it until you find something better to do with your time.

  3. TX Nick – Thanks. This place was kinda huge in the mid-2000s, but it’s nice to have a group of regulars who stop by a few times a week.

Ingineer – It goes to what I wrote for TX Nick above. Most blogs are dying, so readership isn’t what it was., which is fine. I’m glad I still have an audience to rant toward.

  4. You were a real life saver back in 2013 when my then boss was trying to force me to quit so her pet could have my unit. So for that, I’ll be eternally grateful.

I’m just asking 1 little favor, please let us know when you’re closing the corral for good. It was pretty painful & confusing last time, even though I know why you did it.

  5. Wit, amusing anecdotes, righteous indignation and speaking truth to power. That’s why I come here. I don’t recall when and how I got here, but I was still working then, so it’s been over six years. The one thing that I do remember is that it was still the old “Support” blog and I was upset when you quit and thrilled when you came back. I’ve enjoyed pretty much enjoyed every minute and appreciate your time and effort……….

  6. MelP – You’re very welcome. Glad I could help. I have seven years until I retire, and I’ll probably be bored, so it’ll likely stay open. The good news is all you guys are fossils, so I’ll quit when the last one kicks. 🙂

Tam – Thank you very much. My first blog is still around on Blogspot, but in hindsight I regret deleting the last one, mostly because I never saved the posts. All that work, gone forever. But there was not a lot of leeway at the time.

  9. Just so you know, 12 years ago you were way down my priority list, I’d hit my email accounts, Drudge, Instapundit, Ace of Spades, and several more sites before coming to you. Today, I check my email and then strait to Ol’ Wyatt…I need my daily dose of snark and reality…thanks for all the time you spend spreading enjoyment to a few of us loyal followers…

  10. Loki – Retirement posts will be awesome. Pics of me sitting on the couch… on the lawn chair… on the riding mower…

RG – It cannot come soon enough. A good 20,000 are downtown right now, proving once and for all the Wuhan Virus protocols were bullshit all along.

Doc – Thank you Doc. And thanks for the solicited and unsolicited med advice, especially with the cellulitis. Hopefully I’ll be in your neck of the woods in a few years.

Proof – I know, right? Mrs. Earp, where’s the cake!??

  11. 15 years ago I had just finished my first year of university, broke my foot and was spending the summer on my mom’s couch recovering from surgery and bored out of my skull. I guess it was all for the best, since I found your blog!

Oh, and that means you’re old. Seriously old.

    Happy anniversary!

  13. I began blogging on 11/30/2003. Over the years, I’ve opened several blogs, most of them designated for writing purposes. But Kitty Litter was my very first and my favorite. I used it for a variety of issues, but mostly for politics. 2004 was an election year after all. I can read it, but I can no longer access to edit it because it doesn’t recognize my login, and I’ve never tried to correct it. I still scroll through it occasionally, though, and I’m amazed at what a good job I did.

While I’ve scrolled through the Litter, I’ve found links to your blog, Support Your Local Gunfighter, like this one on 01/13/2007: “Mark down the date and time, because I have made an important decision: I am officially done with the Bush Administration.”

And I quoted you several times, like this one on the subject of Pelosi (01/06/2007): “First of all, she’s a lying sack of crap”

You’ve always been honest and interesting and refreshingly funny. Happy Blogging Anniversary, Wyatt!

  14. Kitty – Thank you. You’re one of the founding readers way back when, and while I think my blogging is like The Simpsons – my earlier stuff was much better than my current posts – I still try to entertain and inform.

Honestly, I still think GWB was a good man, but not a good president. At all.

I stood by him and supported him all the way through his 2nd term. I was furious he wouldn’t stand up for himself. Rush tried to explain why Dubya wouldn’t, but I could hear that explanation just so often before I choked on it. After he left office he visibly sided with the Left which, in my opinion, tarnishes his good man image. Is he trying to be some sort of can’t-we-all-git-along PC, in which case he’s weak, or does he really side with the left, in which case he’s dishonest.

About that time I became disillusioned with the GOP in general. Their treatment of Sarah Palin capped my disgust with them. And I don’t care how much suffering McCain endured in Vietnam; it didn’t give him carte blanche to trash her. She had more brass than he did and was the only reason I didn’t sit that election out. I voted for her; he just happened to be on the ticket.

Thank God for Donald Trump who stepped in to take the slings and arrows in order to clean up Dodge (aka D C).

    1. Amen. Bush’s cozying up to the Obamas is disgusting, especially after we know he was behind the “Russian collusion” hoax and the framing of General Flynn.

McCain was a disgusting human being, and Sarah Palin deserved much better… like me consoling her during her divorce. 🙂

      1. So she’s really getting a divorce? I haven’t heard any more about that and was hoping they reconciled. My first thought was Todd’s horrible snow mobile accident in 2016.

  16. I’ve never been able to adequately put into words how I feel about George W. Bush. You guys described my feelings toward him quite well. Mostly, he took so much shit without defending himself, I concluded it was all part of “the plan” for the in crowd to take over. I don’t much care for him anymore.
