Falling Stars

The CEO of the Dallas Stars hockey team acknowledged they have lost many season ticket holders after the team boycotted a game, knelt for the National Anthem, and expressed support for the Black Lives Matter terror organization. Kneeeling for the Anthem in Texas? Smart move.

According to a report, the president and CEO of the NHL’s Dallas Stars said the team has lost a number of season ticket holders because of the team’s support of Black Lives Matter and protests dealing with race.

Brad Alberts stated, “But we/I stand by our organization’s commitment and support our players 100% to express their views,” as the Dallas News reported.

Just a little inside baseball for those who either don’t follow hockey, or don’t follow the Stars. The team does not have a rabid fanbase. Sure, they get people in the stands, but most of them come after the game has started, and leave before the game is over. It’s similar to sports in NYC – yes, the places are filled, but many fans leave early to beat the rush. Losing season ticket holders will be disastrous for this team, but this jackass CEO thinks doubling down is a wicked smaht plan.

Stars interim coach Rick Bowness added, “We’re all against the social injustice and racial discrimination that’s going on around the world. If our players think that this is the best way that they can support that, then they have our full support and we are proud of the stance that they have taken.”

Hmm, maybe I missed the Stars’ protests of the Chinese government for imprisoning Muslims, or their crackdown on Hong Kong’s protesters. It’s almost like the team’s commitment to “social injustice” around the world is just a bullshit talking point.

I mean, having followed hockey for most of my life, I think I have a good idea of what NHL fans will and will not tolerate. This will end badly for you, Dallas; and the rest of the NHL will follow suit.

  1. Well, I stopped watching MLB, NBA, NFL, and now the NHL. My dog is enjoying the longer walks, and the fresh air smells fresher.

  2. I pray for the day all the sports leagues go bankrupt. Then, a bunch of conservatives can start anew and build sports leagues that are for… entertainment of the fans.

  3. Manny – I love the NHL, but I haven’t watched a game since the boycott. They don’t want my patronage? No problem.

TX Nick – I can’t believe the team thought this would be acceptable in TEXAS.

RG – For the fans? That’s just crazy talk.
