Super Genius!

You may remember the post from October 28th, where I wrote about Kevin’s entrance exam for Archbishop Ryan High School. Kevin ended up earning a score of 97, and we were hoping that maybe, just maybe, he would get some extra financial aid for his efforts.

Kevin did better than we imagined…

Congratulations! It is with immense pleasure that I inform you that you’ve been selected to receive the President’s Award to attend Archbishop Ryan High School. Each year, students who have distinguished themselves through outstanding academic achievement, personal excellence, and stellar performance on our Presidential Scholarship & Placement Test are chosen from the entering class to receive this honor.

Kevin scored a 97 on the test. The highest score you can achieve is a 99. Slacker.

Your scholarship is $7,000 per year at Ryan for a total of $28,000

I have to congratulate you on your amazing performance on our entrance test. This is a great honor! You’ll receive an official letter in the mail within the next couple of days with the details of your scholarship and test results. This will give you more time to celebrate and do a happy dance.

Mrs. Earp forwarded me the email, and Kevin – being Kevin – sent me this text: “I JUST GOT A $7,000 SCHOLARSHIP TO RYAN, OH MY GOD!”

I am so totally and completely proud of him. The kid is a super genius.

P.S.Kevin is still in the running for the Neumann Scholarship, which is a free ride through high school.

  1. Jenn – Thank you. School work comes fairly easy to him, and I have no idea where that comes from, because it doesn’t come from me.

wmhhnryhrsn – Thanks. He was legitimately surprised and excited when he heard the news.

Ronni – We’d be looking at $10,000 a year as opposed to $3,000 now. Definitely helps.

Kitty – Thanks. He’s very excited, and it he lucks out and gets the Neumann scholarship, he’ll get a free ride.

Doc – The missus doesn’t want to move until they’re all out of high school. I’m stuck here until 2024 with the job, and we can flee in 2027. It is what it is. We don’t want to uproot Kevin and Julia halfway through high school.

    Mike47 – Thanks. It’s a great accomplishment.

Ed – Definitely, and while Kevin liked the prep school, there’s no way they would give him a similar scholarship.

  2. RG – Yeah, he’s a good kid – usually – when he isn’t posting bizarre YouTube videos.

Mike AKA Proof – Thanks. He is probably the smartest person on the house, but as Kyle says, “He is smart all day in school, then turns his brain off at home.”

  3. Wow! Awesome! I am so happy for Kevin, and all the Earps.

(I would have posted sooner, but once again, I am working long hours.)

  4. Rudy – He’s very into computers, and he downloads older video games and makes mods for them. I’m pretty good with computers, but I have no idea how he does the things he does.

TXNick – No worries. I’ve been scarce all night. We’re getting crushed with jobs.

    1. There’s a girl he occasionally mentions from school. Her name is Molly. I think they’re friends but I don’t know where she’s going to high school. The prep school is all boys. Archbishop Ryan is boys and girls.
