Meet Špela Rogelj, a 27-year old ski jumper from Slovenia. Špela started her career at the age of eight – EIGHT! – as her father and brother were both ski jumpers. She speaks Slovenian, German, Czech, and English.
Špela made her debut at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games when ski jumping for women was on the Olympic program for the first time, finishing 26th (22nd at PyeongChang 2018).
In seven World Championships appearances (2009-21), her best finish is 10th in 2015. Won a team silver medal in 2021, after just missing the podium in fourth in 2019.
She is four-time Junior World Championships medalist, winning a full set of medals with the team (2013 gold, 2014 silver, 2012 bronze) and an individual normal hill silver in (2011).
Špela is superstitious, and wears the same socks at every competition.
There are more photos below the fold…
Špela is obviously pretty, and she’s very down to earth. She occasionally works in the office of the family business (car repair shop and gas station) and will do so after her ski jumping career. She plans to stay involved in the sport to help develop woman’s ski jumping.
Obviously she looks amazing in a swimsuit…
Špela is also not someone you want to take lightly, as she is a member of the Slovenian armed forces. Nice tank you got there, Špela.
The Slovenian women’s team dominated the ski jumping event, placing all four women in the top nine. Špela finished ninth out of thirty, which is pretty impressive, since she finished 26th in the 2014 Sochi Games and 22nd in the 2018 PyeongChang Games.
