Sunday Services

The other day I was tooling around on the TV and noticed John Wick was on. (Highly recommended.) It’s one of my favorite films, so I sat my ample behind down and watched it for the thousandth time. Today’s services are a nod to John Wick, since the subject is actress Adrianne Palicki.

Adrianne Lee Palicki (born May 6, 1983) is an American actress best known for her roles as Tyra Collette on the NBC series Friday Night Lights (2006–2011) and as Barbara “Bobbi” Morse on the ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2014–2016). She also played supporting roles in the films Legion (2010), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), and John Wick (2014). She is currently starring as Commander Kelly Grayson in the Fox show The Orville (2017–present).

Palicki was an assassin in John Wick, and was rather hot while doing her job. There are more photos below the fold Click to embiggen.

Today’s services revolve around actor Jake Gyllenhaal, whose sister Maggie has the body of a twenty-year old and the face of a sixty-year old.

Jacob Benjamin Gyllenhaal (December 19, 1980) is an American actor. Gyllenhaal began acting as a child with a screen debut in City Slickers (1991). His breakthrough performance was as Homer Hickam in October Sky (1999) and he garnered an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Male Lead for playing the title character in the indie cult hit Donnie Darko (2001), in which he played a psychologically troubled teenager, alongside his older sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal.

If I wasn’t entirely done with Marvel films, I would be looking forward to his playing Mysterio in the new Spider-man film. Alas, it was not to be.

Since today is Saint Patrick’s Day – and I rarely celebrate it because my Irish roots have been done to death – I figured today’s services would have a theme, like Erin Go Braless! Or, you know, Irish girls. Enjoy.

Sarah Bolger (above) is an actress who appeared in The Tudors, Into The Badlands, and Agent Carter. Sarah was born in Dublin, Ireland.

Today’s services revolve around Supernatural star Jensen Ackles.

Jensen Ross Ackles (March 1, 1978) is an American actor and director. He has appeared on television as Dean Winchester in The CW horror series Supernatural, Eric Brady in Days of Our Lives, which earned him several Daytime Emmy Award nominations, Alec/X5-494 in Dark Angel and Jason Teague in Smallville. He also starred as the lead in the box office success My Bloody Valentine 3D and voiced Jason Todd in the popular animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood.

Supernatural was a really good show for its time. I think it’s still on reruns on TBS or one of the other stations. There are more photos below the fold…

Today’s services revolve around one of my (many) teenage crushes: actress Diane Lane.

Diane Colleen Lane (January 22, 1965) is an American actress. Born and raised in New York City, Lane made her debut in George Hill’s 1979 film A Little Romance.

She has since appeared in several notable films, including the 2002 film Unfaithful, which earned her Satellite, New York Film Critics Circle, and National Society of Film Critics awards for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama). Her performance in Unfaithful also garnered her Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for Best Actress.

Lane has starred in The Outsiders (1983), Judge Dredd (1995), The Perfect Storm (2000), Under the Tuscan Sun (2003), Trumbo (2015), and in the sixth season of House of Cards. She played Martha Kent in Man of Steel (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and Justice League (2017).

Diane was dead sexy in Streets of Fire (with an over-the-top performance by Willem Dafoe) and in The Outsiders. She’s also a pretty decent actress.

Yesterday I was home recovering when I noticed No Country for Old Men was on the tube. I watched much of it, of course, and the Sunday Services subject hit me in the face: Josh Brolin.

Josh James Brolin (born February 12, 1968) is an American actor. His first role was in the 1985 film The Goonies. Since then he has appeared in a wide range of films and is known for his roles as Llewelyn Moss in No Country for Old Men, George W. Bush in W. and Dan White in Milk, the last of which earned him Academy Award and SAG Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor.

Brolin stars as the villain Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through motion capture and voice acting. His first appearance as Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), then in a mid-credits cameo at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), and later became the leading antagonist in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), where his performance was critically acclaimed. In April 2017, Brolin was cast as Cable as a part of a four-film contract in the X-Men film series, first appearing in 2018’s Deadpool 2.

Brolin was always a handsome guy, but he got really buff for his portrayal of Cable in Deadpool 2. As you can see below the fold…

Since I posted a conservative babe a few weeks ago, I figured it was time to post a conservative guy; in this case, actor Adam Baldwin.

Adam Baldwin (February 27, 1962) is an American actor and voice actor. He starred in Full Metal Jacket (1987) as Animal Mother, as well as in the television series Firefly and its continuation film Serenity. His roles include Stillman in Ordinary People (1980), Colonel John Casey in Chuck, and Mike Slattery in The Last Ship.

Appearing in a large number of films since 1980, Baldwin rose to prominence as the troubled outcast Ricky Linderman in My Bodyguard (1980) and moved on to bigger roles in D.C. Cab (1983), Full Metal Jacket (1987), Predator 2 (1990), Independence Day (1996), The Patriot (2000), and Serenity (2005) in which he reprises his role as the mercenary Jayne Cobb from the television series Firefly.

Baldwin’s had a pretty impressive acting career, especially for an open conservative working in Hollywood.

Today’s services revolve around an 80’s-era supermodel who is back in the news: the uber-gorgeous Paulina Porizkova.

Paulina Porizkova (born 9 April 1965) is a Czech-born Swedish supermodel, actress, and author, who holds dual U.S. and Swedish citizenship. At 18 years old, in 1984, she became the first woman from Central Europe to be on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She was the second woman (after Christie Brinkley) to be featured on the swimsuit issue’s front cover consecutive times (1984 and 1985). She joined judging in America’s Next Top Model in Cycles 10–12.

In case any of you wondered where she’s been, you can see her in this year’s SI Swimsuit Issue. A preview of her pictorial can be seen here, and good golly, she looks amazing.

Today’s services focus upon a terrific actor who’s had a charmed career: Michael Biehn.

Michael Connell Biehn (born July 31, 1956) is an American actor, primarily known for his military roles in science fiction films directed by James Cameron; as Sgt. Kyle Reese in The Terminator (1984), Cpl. Dwayne Hicks in Aliens (1986) and Lt. Coffey in The Abyss (1989). His other films include Navy SEALs (1990), Tombstone (1993), The Rock (1996) and Planet Terror (2007).

Biehn received a Best Actor Saturn Award nomination for Aliens, and received The Life Career Award at the 2011 ceremony.

Most actors could have called it a career after The Terminator. Biehn followed up with Aliens and Tombstone (arguably his greatest performance). There are more photos below the fold…
