Tuesday evening was surprisingly less busy than usual. As a result, I had plenty of time to answer the phones and help my fellow citizens with all their needs and concerns. Take this one woman, who wanted help in finding information on her friend, who sadly, passed away from a drug overdose.
The woman stated she had information on the man who allegedly gave her friend the drugs, and was looking for help in continuing the investigation. I told the woman once the body is transferred to the medical examiner, they have all jurisdiction, and our role in the case is usually over. But, she seemed nice, so I asked the name of the decedent in order to find the detective assigned.
The woman spelled out the name and I entered the information into the computer. There were no results. I asked the woman to spell the name again, because I’m getting old and feeble, I may have made a mistake. I checked again, and no results…

North Carolina Thom Tillis is recommending an investigation into Christine Blasey-Ford, the Palo Alto university “professor” who tried to smear Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court nomination. Apparently, the GOP is now “considering” investigations for people who lie under oath. What a concept!
GOP Sen. Thom Tillis said a new investigation into Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations of sexual misconduct against Justice Brett Kavanaugh may be appropriate in light of a new book suggesting she had political motives.
“This does seem to undermine what we all believed was a legitimate traumatic experience in her life,” Tillis said. “We’ll just let the process play out. But clearly, a misrepresentation before a Senate committee is a very serious offense. Hopefully, we can get past that.”
“We have to always make sure that when people come and give sworn testimony before any congressional committee that it’s truthful and accurate,” Tillis added.
Now see, Tillis is way off base with this reasoning. It’s not like Blasey-Ford drummed up a provably false story for political reasons…
Speaking at the University of Baltimore in April, Ford lawyer Debra Katz said questions as to Kavanaugh’s legitimacy will linger far into the future. Diminishing Kavanaugh’s reputation is part of what motivated Ford to come forward, Katz said. News of her remarks first appeared in the new book “Search and Destroy: Inside the Campaign Against Brett Kavanaugh” by the National Law Journal’s Ryan Lovelace.
Oh. Look, I’m sure nothing will come of this, especially since it took the GOP nearly a year to even suggest it, but it’s a step in the right direction. At this pace, the Republicans will have their Shiite together by 2096.
