Just when you thought the NFL couldn’t deteriorate any faster, the league’s owners have apparently said, “Hold my beer.”
[NFL owners] could, in theory, attempt to trigger forfeiture of the Dallas franchise.
The possibility flows from Article VIII of the NFL’s Constitution & Bylaws. Specifically, Section 8.13 authorizes the Commissioner to determine that an owner “has been or is guilty of conduct detrimental to the welfare of the League or professional football.” If the Commissioner believes the available sanction (a $500,000 fine) is “not adequate or sufficient,” the Commissioner may refer the issue to the NFL’s Executive Committee, which has the power to compel “[c]ancellation or forfeiture of the franchise in the League of any member club involved or implicated,” with a directive to sell the team.
Please do this, NFL. Please oust the only owner who vehemently supports both the troops and the police. All it would do is hasten your despicable organization’s demise.
The primary affront comes from the belief among owners that Jones instigated Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter to disparage the NFL, blaming league leadership for ratings declines and, in turn, a reduction in Papa John’s revenues.
The NFL is the Barack Obama of sports leagues; nothing is ever their fault. You assholes have disrespected the flag, the troops, the police, and the fans for the last two years, and you’re blaming plummeting ratings on Jerry Jones and a pizza maker? Are you serious?
You people allowed your criminals in uniform to participate in these protests. You let it continue, even after the fans told you it was offensive. And yes, you offended sponsors to the point that some have started to bail.
If you pompous pricks really want to know who is responsible for the demise of your league, it’s not Jerry Jones. It’s the man in the mirror.
