Iranian forces captured two American ships and took ten sailors hostage yesterday, after claiming both ships suffered engine malfunctions and strayed into Iranian waters. Wow, what a co-inky dink.
The Islamic Republic of Iran seized two U.S. Navy vessels while they were navigating the Persian Gulf on Tuesday, detaining the ships and ten American sailors near Iran’s Farsi Island, the Pentagon said. Farsi Island is home to an Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) military base.
It’s funny; I’m old enough to remember when confiscating ships and taking Americans hostage was considered an act of war.
Iran’s state-controlled Fars New Agency reported that one of the 10 sailors who have been detained is a woman. They also noted in their article that each of the boats is equipped with three 50 caliber machine guns. The IRGC has also confiscated GPS equipment from the vessels.
Iran media says Revolutionary Guard navy confiscated GPS equipment belonging to 10 US sailors it has arrested, “our border was crossed.”
Secretary of State John Kerry has called Tehran hoping to secure the sailors’ immediate release, which state Iran has agreed to let them go “within hours.”
Yeah, Iran eventually released the hostages; more than twelve hours after their capture. I did not waste my time watching the “president’s” State of the Union Address last night, but I read he never mentioned this incident. Not once. He did, however, dare to actually say this out loud:
“I told you earlier all the talk of America’s economic decline is political hot air. Well, so is all the rhetoric you hear about our enemies getting stronger and America getting weaker… No nation dares to attack us or our allies because they know that’s the path to ruin.”
Apparently Barry is hitting the choom again.
