You Damned Dirty Apes!

Well, we survived smallpox, polio, disco, and the Chinese Wuhan Virus, but apparently we are not out of the jungle yet. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, may I present to you the newest viral fad… monkeypox.

Health officials have confirmed that there are now three cases of monkeypox in the UK – but what are the symptoms of this virus to look out for?

The monkeypox virus is a member of the same family of viruses as smallpox. However, it is far less severe and experts say chances of infection are low. It is usually found in remote parts of central and west Africa near tropical rainforests.

So far there have been two confirmed cases in north Wales and one in Liverpool in north-west England.

One virologist claimed the worst side effects include sitting in a barrel with other infected patients, jumping on luggage, and banging cymbals together. If you have these symptoms, see a doctor a.s.a.p.

Raise Your Hand If You’re Sure

An artist came to the rescue of Wales’ tallest tree after it was mutilated by a heavy storm. He cleaned up the debris and turned the damaged tree into something spectacular.

When Welsh artist Simon O’Rourke heard that the tallest tree in Wales had been severely damaged by a storm, he volunteered to turn what remained into a piece of art. Armed with his trusty chainsaw, O’Rourke transformed the dying tree into the “Giant Hand of Vyrnwy, a stunning sculpture that features a hand reaching into the sky, as if to once again claim its former greatness.

“I began researching the area and found the area of woodland that contained the tree was known as the Giants of Vyrnwy. This got me thinking and I decided on a giant hand, symbolising the giants, and the tree’s last attempt to reach for the sky!”

That’s simply amazing. Dear California, if you hired someone like this to look after your forests, maybe you wouldn’t experience wildfires every summer. Just sayin’.
